It is a very fine contribution to a great intellectual of our country and I have no doubt that its contents have been edited and published on the same standards. Dr Vijay Kelkar has been on the forefront of policy making in India. He has several intellectual contributions, which have resulted in the implementation of some radical changes in India’s economy and progress. In the book, each of the distinguished authors of the book makes an interesting case on Dr Kelkar’s works. Their contributions clearly highlight that Dr Kelkar is one of the best economists, thinkers and policy makers of our country; and rigthtly so. The book is interesting and insightful. It is a wonderful festschrift indeed. The book covers a number of important topics of current importance. I am sure that teachers and students of economics will considerably benefit from the book. I look forward to reading it. I am glad to know that Vijay L Kelkar has been conferred the Skoch Challenger Lifetime Achievement Award, which I feel he well deserves. I am sure his contributions will continue to have an effective impact on the Indian economy.
